York & North Yorkshire · Most of the year; large limbs avoided in nesting season.
Branches too low over your drive, path, lawn or a neighbour's fence? Crown lifting removes the lowest branches to raise the canopy and win back clearance and light underneath.
We only work with tree surgeons holding the proper chainsaw and climbing tickets. Certificates on request.
Fully insured for work near homes, fences and power lines. Your property is covered.
All arisings chipped and removed legally, with a waste transfer note. No mess left behind.
The tree surgeons we work with check Tree Preservation Orders and conservation-area status before quoting, and handle the council application for you.
Crown lifting
Crown lifting (also called crown raising) means removing the lowest branches of a tree to lift the bottom of the canopy higher off the ground. It's one of the most common requests — to clear a driveway, footpath, lawn or sightline, to let a mower under, or to stop branches dragging on a roof or fence.
It's a light-touch job compared with a full reduction, and can be done through much of the year, though we avoid removing large limbs in bird-nesting season (March–August) without checking for nests first. Lifting too high in one go can unbalance a tree, so it's done with judgement.
Crown lifting typically runs £150–£450 depending on size and access, and is often bundled with other work. We clear the arisings and check the TPO position before starting.
Crown lifting in York — qualified, insured, and tidy.
Lifting removes the lowest branches to raise clearance underneath, without making the tree smaller overall. Reduction makes the whole tree shorter and narrower. Lifting is lighter and cheaper — we'll advise which you actually need.
Yes — that's a classic crown-lifting job. We remove the low branches to give clearance for vehicles or a clear path, keeping the tree balanced and healthy.
Most domestic tree jobs in York land between £150 and £1,500, depending on the tree's size, access and the volume of waste. A typical day with a full team is around £350–£500. Every quote is free and itemised.
Possibly — if the tree has a TPO, or sits in a conservation area with a trunk over 75mm across. York has a lot of conservation area. We check before we quote and handle the council application for you.
